Week 1: May 1 - May 7
Metrotown Return-It Centre
Date: May 1, 2009
Well folks, it's official – Return-It Man is on another Celebration Tour! He kicked off the festivities at Metrotown Return-It Centre. Equipped with the new prize wheel, balloons and his trusty Super Sidekick; Return-It Man was ready to let everyone know just how important beverage container recycling is. With his brand new sound system amped, depot visitors rocked out to some tunes while the Return-It Team shared some of the best... and worst jokes from their repertoire. As the visit came to a close, Return-It Man revealed that they would be drawing for an MP3 player at noon. Patrons dashed to the ballot box for some last minute entries. The selected winner was still at the depot at the time of the draw and was ecstatic to have won the first prize of his life. Return-It Man handed him his prize and replied; “You win every time you recycle.”

Return-It-Man continued on to the Blue Mountain Depot, where he and his Super Sidekick were giving away prizes and high fives like they were going out of style. With the patrons happy at the depot, Return-It Man ventured into the city, meeting all the locals and passing on his recycling mojo. So potent was the mojo that people literally split from the streets to collect their beverage containers from home and make their way to the depot before closing time. When Return-It Man came back, a crowd had gathered, anxiously awaiting the MP3 player draw. When it was all said and done, the selected winner was a man who had entered last minute, and only because his wife had convinced him to. Reflecting on the days’ hard work, Return-It Man concluded, “It certainly pays to recycle - and to listen to your wife.”

As Return-It Man flew overhead, he noticed some gray skies rolling his way. As he arrived at the depot, he let everyone know that beverage container recycling would be the only way to keep the clouds at bay. Taking Return-It Man’s advice, the community banded together and had a wonderful time helping lonely beverage containers find a home, while at the same time keeping the skies clear. Later on in the afternoon, as if the sun wasn't enough, Return-It Man brought even more fun with a prize wheel where the trivia fun and prize party began. With the tunes cranked and the returns flowing, the party at Walnut Grove Bottle & Return Centre continued well into the day.
