Week 6 Highlights

Cariboo Plaza Return Centre

The little Cariboo Depot was booming with business, as Return-It Man and his Super Sidekick squeezed their way around the store, handing out prizes and high fives. Finally our Super Heroes decided that they should head out for some fresh air and a trip around the town. Promenading the local area proved to be a wonderful experience...between the Skytrain Station and the Mall Plaza, Return-It Man couldn't stop meeting folks and making friends. Explaining the recycling program, and locating the depot for customers proved to be an essential service on this very busy Saturday afternoon. As the day wound down, Return-It Man had just enough time to sneak back to the Depot to make the camera draw.

Columbia Bottle Depot - Rutland

Even Return-It Man felt a bit 'dwarfed' by the immense facilities at the Columbia Bottle Depot. When he wasn't dancing amongst mountains of pallets, or getting lost in a maze of stacked bottles, you could find our neighbourhood hero, helping the locals with their returns. Always full of good advice, Return-It Man and his Super Sidekick were handing out recycling tips and handy info regarding the do’s and don'ts of the three "R’s". Once the BBQ was fired up, it was smokies for all, even the hard working crew at Columbia Bottle Depot had a chance to relax with a hotdog.

Scott Road Bottle Depot

Return-It Man could tell by the giggling staff that they were excited to have him back once again. Jumping down the busy 122nd, Return-It Man entertained the masses, including restaurant patrons, bus stop folk, and of course the playground families. At the Depot Return-It Man was a sensation, flexing his muscles and showing off his recycling skills. Recyclers walked away with Frisbees, Yo-yos, T-shirts and tattoos all over their arms, one lucky recycler left the Depot with six big balloons...she almost floated away!

Willowbrook Recycling

Although Return-It Man was visiting Willowbrook Recycling, the bottle depot resembled more of a Hawaiian Luau. Even though the weather proved a challenge, the palm trees and vibrant decorations still made it a bright, beach-like celebration day. When attendees weren’t learning about the value of appropriate recycling, they were getting their faces painted, eating BBQ’d hotdogs and other snacks, taking hula lessons and even participating in a big limbo contest! Unfortunately, Return-It Man was a little limited in his bending capabilities, but still managed to have a blast. The music and atmosphere were very comical and friendly for all. This huge success of a celebration day was made possible by the combined efforts of the amazing staff at Willowbrook Recycling!
