Week 3 Highlights
Bill's Bottle Depot
Out in the industrial park in Salmon Arm, Bill's Depot is a “Giant” of a Return-It Depot. With almost every recycling receptacle under the sun... and ...under the sun they were! Another toasty day made for cheery customers and happy kids. Bill's Bottle Depot is definitely the front runner for “Best Decorated Depot”. Sam, the Depot manager, stayed up for two days making decorations out of recycled product, and turned the store in a “Colorful Spring Celebration”. When Return-It Man wasn't frolicking in the home-made flowers, he was outside chatting with the locals, or at the busy roadside dancing for traffic. Good times in Salmon Arm!
General Grant's North Shore Bottle Depot
Return-It Man started his weekend off with a scorcher. Him and Super Sidekick found themselves in 30+ weather at General Grant's North Shore Bottle Depot...but they didn't let that stop them from showing Kamloops how to have a good time! Between floating between the General's Plant Shop, Corner Store and Bottle Depot, Return-It Man was quite the popular guy making customers giggle and smile. This Depot's outdoor service was very unique, and gave Return-It Man the opportunity to spend all day outside meeting every customer that pulled in to take in their returns. Honks and waves, smiles and good
conversation made this event a tremendous success!
Ladner Bottle Depot
Return-It Man and the party cart were back in style. This time in Ladner handing out free water and snacks to all the good recyclers. Floating between the depot and other local businesses, Return-It Man and his Super-Sidekick were a big hit, answering all sorts of recycling questions and keeping the kids happy with balloons and other goodies.
OK Bottle Depot
The Heat goes on... Temperatures continued to rise as Return-It Man braved the elements and danced the afternoon away at the OK Bottle Depot. This location was much more than 'OK' as the Depot Operator & Staff had a route all planned out for Return-It Man. Making his way between #3 Rd and the Depot, Return-It Man made time to stop for families and local businesses, and made a special trip to visit an Earthquake Relief Fundraiser for victims in China.
Walnut Grove Bottle Depot
Someone out here has got a serious sweet tooth... buzzing with sugar, Return-It Man was a big hit with the kids, giving out candy and Frisbees to all the locals. Parading up and down the street, this one man show proved that one person CAN make a difference, as numerous passersby exclaimed that had they not seen Return-It Man, they might have forgotten about all the May Long Weekend empties gathering in the garage. Way to go Return-It Man, helping more homeless bottles find a home!!
