Week 1 Highlights
Qualicum Bottle & Recycling: May 3, 2008
Upon arrival the Return-It team was briefed on their agenda… A parade then a dance competition! Return-It Man headlined a local parade, which promenaded through Qualicum’s town centre, and then returned to the depot where he “cut-a-rug” on a make shift dance floor with fellow recyclers. Qualicum was not only well prepared for the visit, but their customers seemed in the know as well.
Parksville Bottle & Recycling: May 3, 2008
Not unlike Quallicum the Parkville depot had an detailed agenda. The depot owner, Louise Beaton, had prepared a list of locations for Return-It Man to make an appearance, thus maximizing his visibility. Bouncing from store front to curb side, Return-It Man was able to make hundreds of friends and drew in quite a crowd for the digitial camera draw.
Maple Ridge Bottle Depot: May 4, 2008
Return-It Man was a busy hero at Maple Ridge Bottle Depot, floating back and forth between the depot and the Plaza next door. The Return-It Team was able to attract a lot of attention to the depot, and spread the recycling word by interacting with the patrons of other businesses, drawing them into the depot by way of the digital camera draw.
Wow! What a week! Return-It Man has toured a bit of Vancouver Island and has been touring Metro Vancouver. Luckily the forces of recycling keep him going! His "kryptonite"? Beverage containers in the garbage!
