E-bikes and E-scooters are Now Part of the Electronics Program

Has your e-bike battery died, or is your e-bike now an ex-bike? It's time to recycle your travel gear.

Starting May 1, 2022, e-bikes and e-scooters are accepted for recycling at all Return-It Electronics collection sites. So, all that is left to do is bring your old e-bike, electric scooter or dead e-battery to Return-It, and we will take it from here.

As announced in December 2021, the Environmental Management Act includes e-bikes and e-scooters in electronic products under schedule 3, section 2(1) (g) of the regulation. Therefore, for sales beginning May 1st, 2022, two new reporting categories will be listed: e-bikes, e-scooters 20 kg + and e-scooter < 20 kg. Both these categories are eligible for Electronics Handling Fees (EHF).

So, are you ready to get rid of that dusty battery that’s no longer of use? Maybe it’s finally time to buy a new e-bike or go for the last spin on your old e-scooter and recycle it afterwards? Whatever your reasons are, Return-It is there for you to take your electronics and put them to good use.

See Return-It collection sites for the list of locations where you can recycle e-bikes and e-scooters, dispose of electronic batteries, and many more.
