Plastic Milk Cup Recycling

MILK CUPS (#5 polypropylene) are now included in the voluntary recycling system

These cups, typically covered with an aluminum foil lid, are sold only to institutions such as hospitals and schools. The dairy industry estimates that about 18-million of the 120 ml milk cups are sold annually.

As with all milk containers in the Return-It program, no deposit is charged and no refund is returned. When collecting these cups for recycling please place about 150 cups per bag when returning them to the depot.

The polypropylene from these milk cups will be be processed by Merlin Plastics on Annacis Island in Delta, and recycled into a wide variety of items including signal lights, battery cables, brooms, brushes, auto battery cases, ice scrapers, landscape borders, bicycle racks, rakes, bins, pallets and trays.
